Yorkshire RoseYou know, the good folks of my adoptive county are so full of themselves sometimes…

'Appen today is Yorkshire Day.

Yesterday was the 90th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice. I spent the night at my parents' house. We watched a documentary in which Rolf Harris visited the First World War battleground on which his father was injured and his uncle killed.

"They were very brave, weren't they, the Aztecs," observed mum.

She meant Anzacs.

Nite Owl

We once camped in a field in a place I believe was called St Valery sur Somme. According to information in a near by museum, our field was slap bang in the middle of The Somme battlefield. Now, you may call it auto suggestion, but I swear I heard the distant sound of battle the following night....spooky!
